Happening... |

IT
HealthTrack will be soon be releasing Module 2 of
our training series: Functional Assessment and the IRF-PAI -
Testing your Assessment Skills. This DVD provides an
opportunity for clinicians to view actual patients
performing functional activities and testing their
scoring reliability. An IT HealthTrack
Certification is evidence of mastery of the content
presented in our training DVDs. Preparation for taking the
exam can be enhanced with use of Module 1: The IRF- PAI and
the FIM. Other learning resources include a workbook that is
full of practical information, quizzes and clinical
examples. Information about our workbook's pricing and
content will soon be announced. You may also look forward to
the IT HealthTrack Knowledge Base, coming in
2005, that presents questions and answers about common
scoring and coding issues.
IT
HealthTrack is your strategic partner for IRF-PAI
allied services.

Dr. Pamela
Smith, President of IT HealthTrack and
past President of National FollowUp Services is co-author on
an article published this week in the Journal of the American
Medical Association (JAMA). The title of the article
is, "Trends of Length of Stay, Living Setting, Functional
Outcome and Mortality Following Medical Rehabilitation". The
findings were based on follow-up data collected by the nursing
staff of National FollowUp Services from 1994 to 2001. We
found that discharge to home and functional status at
follow-up remained stable. However, there was an increase in
Length of Stay (LOS) Efficiency (functional status divided by
length of stay). Mean LOS decreased from 20 to 12 days from
1994 to 2001 and the mortality rate increased from less than
1% in 1994 to 4.7% in 2001. Primary author of the article was
Dr. Kenneth Ottenbacher of the University of Texas Medical
Center (UTMB) at Galveston. His colleague, assisting with data
analysis, was Dr. Glen Ostir, also of UTMB at Galveston. |
